Over the past year, we have been very active with our Zorrocom Inc. internet security project called Antiprism. This is a software which runs in an HTPC (Home Theatre PC) and allows you to connect all your "smart" devices (tablets, cellphones, TV, thermostats, garage door openers, etc.) to the internet through anonymous channels, and even select which country it appears you are in, without having to pay for a VPN service. I'm not going to ramble on about the technical aspects and how you can use this to secure your business communications, you read all those at the website (or just contact me directly).

What caught my eye today was an article in the Toronto Star about where your communications are really going when you send an email or share files. One might think it simply takes the most direct route to the destination, but in reality it may travel through many other countries on the way, making it subject to the laws of those countries (and their prying eyes). Well, read for yourself, and make the New Year's resolution to get more aware of your internet safety, especially for confidential business communications!
